GARAGE CONVERSIONS
Your garage conversion can become a living space!
A cost effective and less invasive way of creating more space can be achieved by converting a garage into another type of space such as an extra bedroom, living room or extension to the existing kitchen for example.
Most popular for us is when the family need additional contained living space such as a home office, a 'granny flat' or even upgraded facilities for the kids as they get older but are still living at home.
For a home Planning permission is not usually required to convert your garage into additional living space.
This is providing the work is internal and does not involve enlarging the building.
There are some circumstances on occasion attached to a planning permission that may also require that the garage remain as a parking space. However, we have a wealth of experience in this area and will guide you through the legalities* as and when required. So rest assured all of this will be discussed and covered thoroughly once we make our initial consultation and estimate for the work required well before any funds are required or before any actual construction work begins.
Probably the best things about converting your garage is that you get extra space to work with in a way that's relatively fast, unobtrusive, and inexpensive.
The really good news is that converting a garage is still faster and much less expensive than buying a new home or building an additional construction such as an extension onto your existing house or home.
*In most circumstances to legally convert a garage it should either be a guest quarter or an accessory dwelling unit. A guest quarter is a living space that has a bathroom but not a kitchen.
